THE MUSIC

This photo take!s me back........
Early 20's,living in the tropics, working on the boats or the sugar cane harvest or whatever work you could get-the odd gig along the way. Didn't have much, but we had fun,and most of the fun involved music.

We would put on shows in the old Airlie Beach Pub-"Another Night Like Tonight" we called them and they were cracking fun(despite the odd blue)
Sometimes my mate Robbie from Bowen would put on a weekend at the "Tuckshop Theatre" which drew an amazing array of talent and the emptying of numerous kegs of beer!!
It was great fun....

Eventually wandered north to Cairns, playing in a band called "Swinger" with Andy Collins,Steve Gilbert,Linda Rosendahl .We had some great fun, whether it was playing at the central hotel in Port Douglas, the Corn Cob Motel in Tolga  or at a pub down on the waterfront in Cairns.

Eventually the big smoke called so it was off to Sydney to seek fame and fortune, both of which seemed determined not to be found. After an appropriate period of penance and a degree of controlled self flagellation and much frustration,it was time for a change of direction, and this pushed the music to the background

Finally, I've come - almost  - full circle and I'm back to a place where I can bring my music to the foreground again.  As a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, I have a yen to consolidate my musicianship and life experience; to connect with my community through a shared love of music.

Now I perform either Solo ...or in a duo with my partner Nicky Ross  .and sometimes pull together a collection of musicians to perform as "the Doctor's Wife"

Alone or together, I like to play good folk music down through the ages as well as my original compositions.
In addition to guitar, I also play mandolin, banjo, and piano.
